High Anxiety?

I don’t know about you, but working to keep calm is becoming a full time job!  Whooo-eee! So much craziness going on in this world! So much evil and danger; so many troubles and trials; so many opinions and points of view.  So many cares.

If there was ever a time to hide in the shelter of a great rock in a weary land, it is now.  That rock is Jesus…

Isaiah 32: 1-2 “Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment.  And a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.”

Weary Land

Fight with all of your might to stay close to Jesus.  Read the Word like you life depended on it! It does!  Sing your praises to the Lord every day; moment by moment!  He inhabits them!  Pray like you can move mountains!  You can!  In the name of Jesus!

To be honest, I have been having a time of it holding on to my peace. But, thank God, He knows and cares!  I walked into church this Sunday and was handed the bulletin, as usual, to find a real “bulletin” straight from Jesus right on the front cover!  His praying handsmessage to me was accompanied by music and underlined by sermon.   Yes, Lord!  I hear You!    (Here’s a photo of the “Bulletin.”) The Bible says we are called to peace…(Colossians 3:15) Called to peace.  And in unity with His church.  Being thankful!

I have a ways to go yet, but it seems to me that unity and thanksgiving are the keys.

I have spent a lot of time in prayer lately.  I have a prayer board with the names of 23 adults, many organizations/missions,  and 12 very sick children and babies with incredible health needs.  Not to mention praying for revival; praying for our troops; praying for this country.  I have been taking prayer seriously!  Only I have become a little anxious, and concerned as I have taken on all of these needs.  Hm, something is a little “off.”

I heard a sermon once about the balanced Christian having two wings: prayer and praise.  I think I have become a very lopsided bird.   🙁

As Pastor Gary Osborne so faithfully preached in tune to God’s “Bulletin” to me:  “Thanksgiving is the hallmark of a growing, mature Christian.”  “In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”  1Thessalonians 5:18

Praise and thanksgiving are the weapons of our warfare!   I should know better than to go out to battle without wielding those!  God is so faithful to grab you by the nape of the neck and give a hardy reminder of what He has already taught you! (Just in case you forget, like I did of late.)

So…I am making myself a Thanksgiving Board…like my Prayer Board…so that I will have those good things always before my eyes; coming before His Presence with Thanksgiving and into His courts with praise; and letting the peace of God rule in my heart!  I may have a way to go, but  my Shepherd is faithful to lead!

Let’s Pray:  Father how we need to be reminded to be thankful!  Not just once a year, but every day!  Help us to remember that You are GOOD all the time, and to count our blessings every day. Help us to cultivate  thankful hearts of praise so that Your peace will rule in our hearts while we walk in this valley of shadows.  In Jesus’ name’

  1. As I was reading this I kept chuckling…why? Because this message touched an area of my heart that needs RULED… peace!!! So as I was writing this the following words were stirring in me:

Stress and mess just keep coming my way
But prayer and praise will keep them at bay
Let now God’s peace rule within my heart
Not just at the end but from the very start
How thankful I am, that I am never alone
He that’s always with me is still on the Throne

Thanks again for another great word Sister Shirley!!!
