It’s been a while, hasn’t it? For a time I thought I might be lost, but, good news! The Shepherd knew right where I was all along! He took “hold of my wandering heart” and led me back to where He wants me.
Without boring you with details of my medical woes, let’s just say that I have not been in top form for a while. Praise His name! “He restores my soul” and I am on the mend. I hope it doesn’t sound trite to say that it is in those wilderness places of our journeys that we find the most precious truths. Faith can be found there! Hope! And His strength. His arms are everlasting and His Spirit inexhaustible.
Are you feeling lost in a fog? Are you hurting or unwell? Have you found it hard to pray, worship, or enter His Presence? Has your fire dwindled? Your passion flagged? Don’t fret! He knows where you are. He loves you still.
Let the words of Psalm 139 speak this truth to your heart today:
139 O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.
2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. 3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. 4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether. 5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it. 7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? 8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. 9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; 10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. 11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. (KJV)
You see, it doesn’t matter if you can see Him, hear Him, or feel Him. HE sees you, hears you, feels & knows you! He never leaves you or forsakes you! You are His & nothing can separate you from His love. Even your darkest night doesn’t conceal you from His loving eye. His tender mercies will lift you up!
“Who is this that cometh up from the wilderness, leaning upon her beloved? Song of Solomon 8:5
Whatever kind of “wilderness” in which you find yourself: a dry and arid desert; a rocky hard place; a deep, dark forest; tangled underbrush…know that He is there, watching out for your soul, keeping you safe until at last His marvelous work is done in your life.
Let’s Pray: Father, help us to realize that there is no condemnation for us who are in You! We are just poor sheep and subject to weaknesses and wanderings. We trust You to find us when we think we are lost.. To restore us and speak kindly to us. We refuse to listen to the lie of our enemy who would keep us hopeless and condemned. May we come out of our hard places leaning on your everlasting arm. In Jesus’ name,
